Honeymoon/Weddingmoon Tips

Honeymoons, WeddingMoons, bachelor, bachelorette and thank you trips for your parents, we will take the stress out of the planning.

WHERE TO BEGIN… TALK! TALK! TALK!

Communicating will get you everywhere…

Finding out what your mate’s expectations are and matching them with yours will make Honeymoon and WeddingMoon planning easy.

Here are a few basic questions to discuss:

  • Do we want to get married in the same place we honeymoon?
  • Do we want to go around the corner or around the world?
  • Do we want to save or splurge?
  • Do we want sunshine or snow?
  • Do we want to be lively or lazy?
  • Do we want to learn something new that we can enjoy together?
  • Do we want a cruise, a honeymoon package, an all-inclusive resort, or a trip tailored just for the two of us?
  • What are your honeymoon dreams and fantasies?

Your Honeymoon or WeddingMoon is the trip of a lifetime! Discussing the above can make sure it will fulfill your dreams.

Too often for couples, honeymoons are an afterthought to wedding planning. Approaching your getaway in this manner is a mistake. A honeymoon is an investment in memories for the rest of your life; do not take chances with it. Instead, we recommend starting with a conversation. Sit down and talk about the level of luxury and privacy you want, what you want to do every day, and the type of nightlife you desire. However, do not despair if you reach an impasse. We have put together a sample of profiles to help you find the perfect escape to fit your personalities.

Tan Fans

Those partial to sun, sand, surf and turf need to get on the same wavelength when choosing where to share a beach blanket. Social creatures that thrive on team sports might prefer the communal atmosphere of an all-inclusive beach resort. There you can mingle with other newlyweds over a sand-castle building contest, get competitive with a game of beach volleyball, or forge new friendships while swimming with dolphins. Those who prefer their own place in the sun should head to an island retreat with private white-sand beaches: You can unwind to the soft sound of lapping waves, arrange a romantic picnic on a remote beach, or get certified in scuba diving and explore tropical coral reefs with your sweetie.

Survivors, Honeymoon Style

If khaki is the predominant color in your wardrobe, if the rumble of the jungle makes you roar, choose an eco-adventure in the wilds of a rain forest to bring out the animal in you. Canoe down the Amazon and spot toucans, lemurs, and spider monkeys in the trees. Get down and dirty on an archaeological dig in Egypt (do not forget to explore the pyramids and the Sphinx). Alternatively, search out wildebeest on a Serengeti safari, and share a kiss overlooking Africa's Victoria Falls.

Fit to be Pampered

If pleasurable pursuits are close to your heart, if youÕre health conscious and like working out the kinks with a Reebok Core Training class followed by a Shirodhara massage; or if youÕd like to work off those last lingering five pounds before returning to civilization, a spa honeymoon should be on your menu. Begin your days hiking through local mountains and getting focused in a yoga class. Wind down by being pummeled into putty and dining on fresh organic cuisine. Starting a new health regime as you embark on your life together is a recommended prescription for even the most incurable romantics.

Shipboard Romantics

If crashing waves, the wind in your hair, and salt in the air appeals to your free spirit, setting sail on a cruise ship and exploring new worlds just might be your ticket. Cruise ships are no longer just floating buffets with some gambling and Vegas-style entertainment thrown in. Of course, there is plenty of time to lounge on the pool deck and sip pina coladas, but it is hard not to be enticed by what cruises have to offer. These mobile luxury hotel-and-spas can transport you to such exotic locations as the south Pacific, the Galapagos, or the Mediterranean. As with ports of call, onboard activities are boundless. Partake in workouts from yoga to tai chi. The more adventurous can challenge rock-climbing walls, parasail, or kayak. If your inner swashbuckler still is not satisfied, consider stowing your gear on a clipper ship that allows guests to take on crew duties.

How to choose a tour

If you have decided to take a tour for your honeymoon, here are a few things to do:

  • Decide on your destination: The Caribbean? Europe? Africa? Asia? USA?
  • Decide on your budget.
  • Consult a Travel Agent.
  • Tours to most destinations come in Deluxe, First Class, Moderate, and Budget categories. The hotel is usually what dictates the category.
  • Calculate the cost per day; Deduct two travel days, then divide by the remaining number of days on the ground by the price minus the airfare if airfare is included.
  • Make sure that free time is included.
  • Find out what time the tours start in the morning.
  • Find out where the hotel is located. If it is far away from town, you will have to budget for extra taxi fares.
  • Read the brochures to ensure that transfers to/from the airport are included.
  • Make sure that your tour returns to the point of origin.
  • Consider whether or not you have to fly to the point of origin from your hometown. These additional airfares can add a lot to the cost of your tour.

Destination Weddings

Looking for the right spot for your WeddingMoon? Not only will we book your desired Honeymoon package, we will co-ordinate the Wedding with an experienced wedding consultant at your destination along with advising you of the proper documentation you will need.

Many couples choose to marry in the same place that they honeymoon. This can save a considerable amount of money and hassle. Most cruises, hotels in the USA and the Caribbean will be happy to work with us to arrange your wedding. Some will price it as part of a package and others offer to arrange a wedding free of charge. In most places, services are meaningful as well as beautiful, and the marriage is always legal!

Some couples bring a few members of the family or a small wedding party whose members might stay in the same resort for a weekend, then leave the couple alone for the rest of the week. For those getting married for a second time who would like to bring their children, there are resorts which arrange the wedding, then provide supervised day long activities for the children and private areas where adults can enjoy beach and sports activities.

Destination Wedding Tips:

Before you go:

  • Check your options : Some hotels offer free weddings and have unusual and memorable “once in a lifetime” places to marry.
  • Documentation : Make sure that you have all of the necessary documentation. This can be done through consulates, tourist boards, on site hotel wedding planners or your travel agent.
  • Travel Agent : Tell your travel agent that you are planning to get married on your vacation and get the name of the person who will assist you on site.
  • Contacts : Let friends and family know your hotel phone and fax.
  • Wedding Party : Decide how many of your family and/or friends are coming and book rooms well in advance.
  • Dress : Decide what you both want to wear. Most women choose full bridal gowns or white cocktail dresses. Most men wear a tuxedo or a jacket, tie and pants. Pack these in a separate suitcase.
  • Music : If soft background music is in your dreams, take a favorite CD or tape and a player.
  • Once you’re there appointment : Make an appointment with the wedding consultant after arrival.
  • Choose your wedding date : Most couples plan the ceremony for one or two days after arrival.
  • Pick your spot : Tour the property together on your own and choose a few beautiful sites for the ceremony BEFORE the wedding consultant takes you on a tour.
  • Choose a color theme : Have a few of your favorite colors in mind. The theme can be carried out in your bouquet, your cake, decorations, etc…
  • Plan your wedding day : Will you get married in the morning or at sunset? What will you do after the ceremony? Stay in your wedding finery? Have a champagne cocktail at the bar or a sunset cruise? Dine in a gourmet restaurant? (Be sure to reserve a romantic table in advance)
